Annual travel incidence and spending. These two metrics are perhaps the strongest indicators of consumer confidence in leisure travel – and they are measuring off the charts. Annual travel incidence, or the percent of U.S. adults (18+) who traveled for leisure in 2014, has just about recovered to pre-recessionary levels while spending on travel products like flights, hotels and rental cars has reached a new five-year high. After a long, stressful period of watching every dollar, consumers are finally treating themselves to the rest and relaxation they've been craving.
While travelers might be spending again, it's far from business as usual. New channels and devices have dramatically changed how U.S. leisure travelers research and plan vacations, while disruptive business models offer up alternatives to traditional getaways.
The July 29 webinar features Marcello Gasdia, Phocuswright's director, consumer research; he shares data and insights on the leisure travel behavior of reinvigorated U.S. consumers. Marcello is joined by Sparkcentral's head of customer success, Sara Carter. This 35-minute event, moderated by Phocuswright analyst Maggie Rauch, includes 15 minutes of Q&A.
