Summary
While the pandemic has deeply affected all aspects of leisure travel, many consumers are clearly looking forward to traveling again. While travel never fully ceased at the height of the pandemic, more and more people are seeking a return to “normal” leisure travel. Expectations on the part of the traveler, the destination and local authorities have changed, and the adaptations to these new requirements vary significantly.
Traveler age and destination type both factor into the readiness and comfort that travelers have visiting a given destination. Certain COVID-centered safety precautions also play an influential role in consumers’ ultimate booking choices. Based on Phocuswright’s U.S. Consumer Travel Report 2021 survey of leisure travelers, this report provides insights and data on consumer’s attitudes and behaviors around future travel planning and booking.
